I actually plan on buying a lonewolf hand climber next year because my wife keeps begging for one like mine, because she absolutely hates hers.I find that playing Lone Wolf is much harder than necessary after the nerf. In my honest opinion I wouldn't waste the money on the summit. The xop stand is cast, so it's a solid chunk of metal. I have filled it with foam, but the sound is still there. Lastly, the summits are hollow aluminum, which echo like. The xop/lonewolf doesn't have that problem. We both constantly slip a few inches while using the stand. They are huge (as in too big) and there are only a few. There's nothing quite like the loud ping of that cable smacking into the stand, to put you into a bad mood before a hunt.Īnother major downside to the summits, has to be the teeth that dig into the tree. This is exacerbated when the tree is too big, which negates the tree diameter pro. The overall height of the expanded stands, combined with the stiffer braided cable design (vs xop's flexible, silicone strap) of the summit makes it annoyingly difficult trying to get it around a tree. The xop/lone wolfs fold completely flat, where as the summits are stuck up. The packability with the summit stand is also a huge factor. It's loud, it's bulky, the platform is smaller and the grates are spaced out too far for me to feel 100 percent saf. My wife mainly uses the summit and she hates it. The tree size isn't a big deal and although the xop/lone wolf stand is uncomfortable, I have had many all day sits in it.

The xop wins in everything besides comfort and tree diameter. I have a summit (specialist) and an xop (lonewolf hand climber clone).
